We have recently upgraded our BI system from 7.0 to 7.4 and held up with an issue in portal. We already have an SAP Note 1296576 - Different Query Behaviour: ABAP - Java for this issue. But not exactly matching our problem.
Just thought of sharing the issue and get some ideas.
Here is the issue.
Our report output in portal started behaving a different way that it shows volumes in EUR (strange, it should be KG or any units, not currency) and this is not happening for all materials all the time. Meaning some materials shows KG and some shows EUR. When we add/remove some characteristics from drill down, the result changes along with the units. The material which was showing EUR earlier changed to KG now (not all).
We tried to narrow down the issue and checked the result in RSRT and Analyzer. The output is good as we expected.
Hence we suspected the Java stack and am posting here to get some ideas if you have faced this

Basis team is also looking into this. While installing PBJ, something might have gone wrong. They are looking in that perspective. We didn't notice that the issue was there in pre-prod environment as well.
